  1. Seated forward bend pose.

A pose that can be done both in the morning and at night, 3 to 4 hours after a full meal, involves intense stretching of the shoulders, hamstrings and the vertebral column. Its beneficiary in skin glow and radiance as it assists in blood purification enhances skin complexion and reduces wrinkle appearance.

How it’s done

  • After placing your yoga mat, sit down legs facing the front.
  • Place both your palms on your thighs respectively.
  • As you inhale, bend forward and try to touch your toes.
  • Exhale remaining in that position for 10secs.
  • Go back to your original position, which in this case is sitting.
  • Repeat this process 3 to 4 times.
  1. Bow pose

Deriving its name from an actual bow and arrow, this pose is done in the morning and it exerts pressure on the abdominal region as well as stretching the ankles, thighs, and groins. It helps in the detoxification of the body, fatigue and also menstrual discomfort.

How it’s done

  • Place your yoga mat and lay face down.
  • Keep your arms beside you placing your palms facing up towards the ceiling.
  • Lift your legs up and grab them using your hands.
  • Fall back to the laying position.
  • Commence with the same process a few times.
  1. Fish pose

This is a pose that traditionally, is done with legs in and it improves the blood circulation in the head. The benefit of this is that it helps in indigestion and bloating.

How it’s done

  • Put your yoga mat in place and lay on your back facing the ceiling. Slowly bend your knees putting your feet on the floor. After this slide your hands towards your buttocks and put them below it.
  • Inhale, then lift your chest and head away from the floor.
  • Stay in this position for a few seconds and release.
  1. Cobra pose

A pose that enhances the opening of your chest by allowing more intake of oxygen thus lending a natural radiance to the skin. Other beneficiaries that come with doing this pose is; strengthening of the spine, stimulation of abdominal organs, stretching of the chest, lungs, shoulder, and abdomen, soothes sciatica, in the relief of stress and fatigue among others.

How it’s done

  • Place your yoga mat on the floor and lie face down, back facing the ceiling, with your hands beside your face.
  • Stretch your arms and as you exhale, lift both your head and chest away from the floor.
  • Take a deep breath and proceed to go back to the original position.
  • Repeat this process 8 to 10 times.
  1. Forward Bending pose

Improvement of blood flow to your face is shown while doing this pose as it enhances your complexion. Other beneficiaries include; calming the brain and helping to relieve stress and mild depression, stimulation of the kidney and liver, stretches the hamstrings, calves, and hips, strengthens thighs and knees among other things.

How it’s done

  • Place your yoga mat and stand straight with your hands by your side.
  • Lean forward, pushing your head towards your legs placing your hand by your side.
  • While doing this make sure your back and legs are straight.
  • Repeat this process a few more times.
